Hospitality is our passion

We are business partners at La Pergola and a couple in real life. After many years of experience in the hospitality industry, working for a variety of renowned UK hotels and restaurants, we finally fulfill our dream of owning our own space where we can bring the best of our Italian heritage in the heart of London.

I am Nelly

Growing up in Rome has been a fantastic adventure. I remember walking with my mother in the intricate narrow streets of this incredibly busy city, passing by historical buildings, beautiful fountains, loud and vibrant markets, smelling the food coming out from the restaurants and imploring my mother to buy me my favorite gelato.

Sunday lunch was all about being with family, in the summer we were dining al fresco spending hours chatting, relaxing and eating traditional family recipes.

I have always cherished those memories during my time studying abroad and during my adult life in London.

At La Pergola, I wanted to recreate this family atmosphere. Seeing my guests enjoying themselves, having a good time and building memories makes me very proud.

I am Giuseppe

Campania is where the most iconic Italian food comes from. Think about pizza, seafood risotto, spaghetti, tagliolini, buffalo mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes they are all part of this regional cuisine.

Over the years, many visitors around the world fell in love with the untouched charm of Naples, and the stunning beauty of its surrounding areas such as Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, just to name a few.

Salerno, my hometown, is an ancient city located by the sea where fresh seafood is the main ingredient of many local dishes.

My mission is to give the most authentic experience to my guests. That’s why I have created an à la carte menu that combines the most loved Italian dishes, traditional cookery skills, fresh ingredients and above all, a true passion for food.

La Pergola

And I am Lorenzo…

During the 60’s many food pioneers from Europe and Asia were starting to enter the British market opening up the country to the taste of new cuisines.

La Pergola formally knows as Da Lorenzo, opened its doors in 1960, with the aim of bringing authentic Italian cuisine and restaurant culture to British customers.

After over 60 years in business, in 2018 I felt that it was time for me to retire, but I was determined to keep my restaurant’s legacy alive.

Nelly and Giuseppe are now bringing fresh energy into the business while preserving its original spirit. And I couldn't be happier!

PS. While entering the restaurant premises you will notice the paint of a man with curly hair hanging on the wall, that’s me - Lorenzo!
